Mark was introduced to pottery in 1964 while studying mathematics at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Mostly self-taught (with the gracious tutelage of many potters), he has established four pottery studios over four decades. His work exhibits a synthesis of geometry and technology.

“ I am inspired by the forces and forms of nature. Grave Goods is an opportunity to develop a series of archetypal forms, presenting “Platonic solids” as funerary urns.
Platonic solids are geometrically simple, yet complex forms of an inspiring nature. “

'Octurnity 1'
slipcast earthenware, gold and mother-of-pearl lustres
$500

This octahedron urn provides an attractive, visually engaging form for the placement of ashes. The opalescent mother-of-pearl finish is evocative of celestial realms and the golden dome and cross lend an air of a tranquil Mediterranean chapel.

'Octurnity 2'
slipcast earthenware, gold and mother-of-pearl lustres
$500

This octahedron urn provides an attractive, visually engaging form for the placement of ashes. The opalescent mother-of-pearl finish is evocative of celestial realms and the golden lid lends an art deco flavour.

'Geophilia'
technique Earthenware, slab construction
$ 600

This dodecahedron urn provides an attractive, visually engaging form for the placement of ashes. The Platonic form topped with a golden Moebius Loop handle would pay a worthy tribute to anyone who loved geometry.

'Dreamscape'
reduction-fired stoneware, shino glaze
$600

To sleep, perchance to dream...
The magical otherworldly images on this urn arise as a gift of fire.
A fitting repository for remains reduced to ashes by fire.
